Brebeuf Jesuit Receives Transformational $1 Million Gift from
John '69 and Meg Sullivan

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School is honored to announce a remarkable $1 million gift from alumnus John Sullivan ’69 and his wife, Meg Sullivan. This generous donation reflects the Sullivans' deep commitment to the values instilled by Brebeuf and their desire to create lasting opportunities for students and faculty alike.

This gift will establish the Myers-Sullivan Family Endowed Fund, which will exist in perpetuity to support Brebeuf Jesuit students in their pursuit of academic excellence and the work of our distinguished faculty. The earnings from the endowed fund exist to provide scholarship support to juniors demonstrating outstanding achievement and aptitude in math and science, helping to offset their senior year tuition. Scholarship recipients will be in the top 25% of their class, and factors such as diversity, increasing the number of women in STEM, and Brebeuf legacy status will be considered. Additionally, financial need may play a role in award decisions.

Additionally, a portion of the earnings will be directed to support faculty enrichment, helping educators advance their academic credentials and attend professional development seminars. This investment in Brebeuf’s faculty aligns with the school’s mission of fostering a culture of intellectual growth and lifelong learning.

John Sullivan, a semi-retired attorney, has had a distinguished career in law and public service, including serving as the Democratic Nominee for Mayor of Indianapolis in 1983 and as Indiana Recount Chairman in 1988. His leadership extended to roles such as Vice President of the Marion County Convention Center and Recreational Facilities Commission and Chairperson for three Indiana Democratic presidential primary campaigns. John’s passion for public service and education was deeply shaped by his time at Brebeuf, where he was Senior Class President and an active participant in athletics and speech and debate. He later attended the College of the Holy Cross and Indiana University School of Law. Meg was a dedicated teacher in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis for many years.

As leaders in the Indianapolis community John and Meg have demonstrated a deep commitment to Jesuit education through exemplary volunteer involvement in their community, their children’s lives, and in support of Brebeuf Jesuit students, faculty, and staff. Their service to Brebeuf included John’s tenure on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Meg and John both played an active role in the lives of their children when they were students at Brebeuf with their involvement in the Mothers Association and Dads Club, cheering them on from the sidelines of countless athletic events, and supporting events and co-curricular activities their children participated in.

The Sullivans' connection to Brebeuf extends beyond John’s time as a student, as their four children—Anne ’06, Dr. Katherine Sullivan Kelley ’02, Patrick ’04, and Michael ’09—are all proud Brebeuf alumni. Their family’s legacy continues with this transformational gift, ensuring that future generations of students and faculty have access to the resources and support needed to thrive.

Brebeuf Jesuit extends its deepest gratitude to John and Meg Sullivan for their generosity and vision in strengthening the school’s mission. This gift, made possible through an IRA charitable rollover, will have a profound and lasting impact on the Brebeuf community for years to come.
