2022-2023 School Year Calendar and Schedule Updates

2022-2023 School Year Calendar and Schedule Updates

In preparation for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, we have been finalizing a number of items on the Academic Calendar and Daily Schedule, and we wanted to share some important updates with you regarding delayed opening plans, the first day of school, and other scheduling.

Students and Families,

We hope you are enjoying a safe and restful summer break! In preparation for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, we have been finalizing a number of items on the Academic Calendar and Daily Schedule, and we wanted to share some important updates with you regarding delayed opening plans, the first day of school, and other scheduling.

As a reminder, the academic schedule and calendar can always be found here and on the Brebeuf Jesuit app, and they are great tools to assist with your calendar planning.

UPDATED DELAYED OPENING PLANS

Schools everywhere have been learning in recent years that we need regular times built into the schedule for teacher teamwork on curriculum, student progress, and professional development in order to best achieve our academic goals with our students. Our new schedule that we adopted two years ago gives us the opportunity to do that, with one tweak that we will implement for the 2022-23 school year: every Wednesday, school will begin at 9:30 a.m. rather than 8:30 a.m., with the 8:15-9:15 a.m. time period devoted to meeting time for teachers and other staff prior to the first class of the day.

The adjustment is accomplished in our academic schedule with a minimal loss of class time by using the time that would otherwise be devoted to the morning PRT on Wednesdays (see the Wednesday schedule below). This new structure replaces the previous monthly 2-hour delayed openings, which will no longer take place. We hope that the predictability of every Wednesday is helpful to families. Lastly, we know that families’ schedules are often built around dropoff times, and so in order to provide an option for consistent dropoff, you may still drop off as early as 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays if you wish. Students who arrive prior to 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays will study in the cafeteria with the usual morning food options available.

Below is the new Wednesday Delayed Opening schedule:

1-hour Delayed Opening Schedule – Every Wednesday
55-minute class periods, one afternoon PRT
8:15-9:15 – Faculty/Staff or Team Meetings
9:30-10:25 – Class
10:30-11:25 – Class

Below is the special Launch Day schedule:
