• Prerequisite: Completion of a year in Bella Valiente or Men’s Glee with an audition or teacher approval through an audition 

• An Indiana Academic Honors Diploma course 

• Two credit course (one credit per semester)

• Fulfills Visual and Performing Arts Credit 

This advanced mixed vocal ensemble for students who wish to expand their knowledge and ability in the vocal arts. This ensemble is composed of highly proficient vocal music students who have mastered basic vocal technique with a high standard on intonation, diction, phrasing, dynamics, tonal production support, sight-reading and stage presence, movement and poise.  Placement in this ensemble is based on a student's progression in proficiency in the above mentioned.  Outside of school rehearsals, performances, and events for this ensemble are part of the course grade. Student comprehension will be monitored by applied and written evaluations. Private lessons are strongly encouraged.

Please Note:

• Our vocal ensembles study, rehearse, and perform music from the ISSMA Group I List as well as competitive choral literature for state contests in April/May. This requires additional rehearsals in preparation for the highest level of competition. 
• Students will be required to be at a 3 day choir retreat prior to school starting as well as 2 additional retreat days (1 each semester) during the school day in conjunction with a concert. 
• Students rehearse approximately 3 hours a week during the school day per week in class and prior to a performance will be required to be at 3 additional 2 hour rehearsals.  There are 4-6 concerts throughout the school year.   
• Ensembles also get to work with nationally recognized professional artists enlisted to work in preparation for the highest level of performance for concerts and contests.  
• Each ensemble will create and perform their own music revue in a semester-long project with the performance of the project in the Spring semester.
• By registering for these courses, parents and students understand that they are responsible for the choir activity fee as described in the Brebeuf Vocal Ensemble Handbook.
