Brebeuf Jesuit is looking for a science teacher willing to work collaboratively with other members of the Brebeuf community to continue molding students into men and women for others in the Jesuit educational tradition. The Science Teacher position is a full-time position with a start date of August 3, 2023. The position is for the academic year, and the duties include a full-time teaching load of five classes per semester, primarily Chemistry I and Zoology, and other school duties as assigned. This position reports to the Science Department Chair and to the Principal.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Create an engaging and welcoming classroom and laboratory environment that challenges and meets all students' needs
- Committed to the school's vision on equity and inclusion and can reflect that inside the classroom
- Develop curricula that challenge students to become responsible, scientifically literate citizens
- Prepare students for the rigors of university-level science
- Meet regularly with their department to ensure streamlined curricula, expectations, and best-practice pedagogy
- Collaborate with colleagues beyond one's academic department in a collegial atmosphere to foster the "whole-person" development of every student
- Participate in a technology-rich teaching and learning environment, including 1:1 Bring Your Own Technology for all students
- Actively and regularly engage parents in communication about student progress.
- Participate in individual, departmental, and school-wide professional development, which are supported by school funds
- Participate in and support the students' and the school's religious life and extracurricular life
- Act as a personal example of those attributes to which we call our students (the "Grad at Grad" ): open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, and committed to promoting justice .
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree in the teaching content area
- Indiana Teaching License in the content area
- Sensitivity to and appreciation for diversity, with demonstrated ability to relate to individuals with compassion
- Ability to excel in a team environment
- Excellent writing, speaking, and communication skills
PREFERRED
- Master's Degree in the content area or related field
- Working knowledge of the Society of Jesuits and its role in education
- Desire to develop one's own faith and bring it to bear in one's work as an educator
- Experience within an educational and/or independent school environment
