Job Opening - English Teacher (Short-Term Maternity Leave Coverage)
Position SummaryThe short-term Maternity Leave English Teacher position is a temporary, full-time teaching role providing approximately six weeks of instructional coverage beginning in August 2026. The position includes teaching a full course load (5 classes) and fulfilling additional school duties as assigned. This role reports to the English Department Chair and the Principal.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Foster an engaging, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that challenges and meets the needs of all learners.
- Collaborate with colleagues within and beyond the English Department, as well as counselors and other educators, to support the holistic development of every student.
- Teach effectively in a technology-rich environment, including the school’s 1:1 Bring Your Own Technology program.
- Communicate consistently and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in departmental meetings and relevant professional responsibilities during the coverage period.
- Support the religious and extracurricular life of the school community.
- Model the characteristics of the “Grad at Grad”: open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, and committed to promoting justice
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
- Experience teaching high school English
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and appreciation for diversity, with the ability to relate to students with compassion
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, technology-forward environment
- Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills
PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s degree and teaching license in English or a related field
- 5+ years of high school English teaching experience
- Master’s degree in English or a related field, or willingness to pursue one
- Familiarity with Jesuit education and its mission
- Desire to integrate personal faith and values into one’s work as an educator
- Experience in independent or Catholic school settings
