Brebeuf 101

Brebeuf Jesuit students must use the east door of the Gym Lobby for all entrances and exits. All visitors (that means you, parents) use the Main Lobby Entrance. 

At the Main Lobby Entrance, we use the Raptor Visitor Management System, which is used in schools nationwide. Visitors simply scan an ID such as a Driver's License at the kiosk by the front doors, and the system performs a quick check to ensure that registered sex offenders are not entering the building. Visitors also indicate the purpose of their visit. A visitor badge will print out at the reception desk for guests to wear while in the building. On the way out, visitors will scan the barcode on the visitor tag, and the system will sign the guest out. It's that simple! 

If a visitor does not have a government-issued ID for any reason, reception staff can use any form of identification to manually enter the guest's name into the system. The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. This is the only database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded, and the information is not shared with any outside agency. 

Families can drop off students at the Gym Lobby each morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. 

The school day ends at 3:20 p.m. All students should be picked up no later than 4:30 p.m.

Brebeuf Jesuit’s schedule utilizes a Day 1-8 format with built in breaks, called Personal Responsibility Time (PRT).  Classes begin at 8:30 a.m.  Dismissal is at 3:20 p.m.

Additionally, every Wednesday, school begins at 9:30 a.m. rather than 8:30 a.m., with the 8:15-9:15 a.m. time period devoted to meeting time for teachers and other staff prior to the first class of the day.

Student attendance must be reported to the Dean’s Office attendance line (317.524.7118 or attendance@brebeuf.org) no later than 10:00 a.m. on the day of the absence. Students may not leave school grounds without parental permission and must sign out in the Dean's Office.  All students must report to the Dean’s Office if they arrive late to school.  If a student's absence is not indicated by a parent within 24 hours, it will be considered unexcused. 

• Parents will receive documentation from Dean’s Office on 4th absence and will receive contact from school counselor 
• After 4 absences, any excused absences will only be excused with appointment documentation
• On the 7th absence, parents will receive documentation from the Dean's Office and have further contact with school counselors.
• If a student accrues 10 absences in a semester, they will not receive credit for the class. 
• Missing half a class is considered an absence. 
• As a reminder, students must attend at least half of their scheduled classes in any given day to participate in extracurricular activities of any kind that day, such as team practices or games, during or after school. 

The purpose of our dress code is to promote an atmosphere where students are coming to school ready to learn, while still comfortable and with the ability for self-expression.  

In order to help achieve this goal, the dress code guidelines are as follows: 

• Students may wear: jeans, khakis/chinos, hybrid material bottoms, or athletic wear, including sweatpants and joggers. Pants, shorts, skirts, or dresses are all appropriate for school wear, provided that they also meet the requirements below. 
• Tank tops, crop tops or tops that do not cover shoulders, midriffs, and undergarments may not be worn at any time. Skirts and shorts are required to extend to the middle of a student's thigh.  

Students may NOT wear:

• Leggings of any kind as pants, or pajama/flannel pants. 
• Items that include racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic images or language, as well as  any images or language that creates a hostile or intimidating environment. 
• Clothing that makes reference to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, vaping, paraphernalia, sex, gangs, or violence.  
• Clothing displaying profanity.
• Undergarments worn as an outer garment.
• Caps, hats, or hoodies worn on the head, sunglasses, or anything that obscures the face (other than religious headwear).

Brebeuf Jesuit parents are asked to park in the Visitor Parking Lot.  The numbered spots are designated for faculty and staff.

In the week before the school year begins, we are excited to offer a service outing for incoming freshmen to volunteer. The Freshman Service Day is a great way to get to know fellow incoming freshman as well as teachers and staff that join the group as chaperones. More information will be sent to enrolled families as the date draws closer.

Locker assignments will be posted outside the Dean’s Office on August 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Students are welcome to set up their lockers at this time.

Students will get their school pictures and ID card on either August 6 or August 7. Pictures will be taken in the East Gym.  

Students are required to wear their Student ID on the lanyard provided every day as they enter school.

Students must have the required texts for the first day of class.  All Brebeuf Jesuit textbooks must be ordered online through eCampus. The store will be open on Monday, July 6.  Free shipping will run from July 6-12.   

Families are encouraged to order books prior to school starting, no later than July 27, to avoid paying expedited shipping charges.
