Brebeuf Jesuit’s speech and debate coaches to receive prestigious awards

On June 17, 2011, Brebeuf Jesuit speech and debate coaches JD Ferries-Rowe and Bill Hicks will receive special recognition at the Lincoln Financial Group/National Forensic League (NFL) National Speech and Debate Tournament in Dallas, Texas. Each year, the tournament draws more than 5,000 students, coaches and parents from across the nation.

Mr. Ferries-Rowe will be recognized as a 1st Diamond Coach Award Winner and Mr. Hicks will be recognized as a 7th Diamond Coach Award Winner for excellence in coaching speech and debate activities. Diamond Awards recognize excellence from member coaches over time. The NFL provides diamond awards based on the results of students coached and the number of students during a career. Each diamond represents more than 2,000 speech performances or debate over five or more years.
