Cross Country

Congratulations to Jason Hoard and his monumental 9th place finish at Saturday’s Semi-State. Jason ran a 15:37 to qualify him for the State finals held this Saturday at the Laverne Gibson course in Terre Haute. Come out and cheer Jason on at 1 p.m. – directions and information can be found at www.ihsaa.org.

Tennis

Dougie Barnard defeated Michael Moe in the semi finals on Saturday. In the finals he lost to Ronnie Schnieder of Bloomington South 6-1,2-6,6-3. What an amazing run and a tremendous four years! Thank you Dougie!

Volleyball

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team for defeating Roncalli in a five-game thriller for the sectional championship on Saturday night. Jeme Obeime and Sloane White led the Braves’ offensive attack, while Natalie Wichern dished out 38 assists. Jadyn Yarling and Hillary Porter led the team’s defensive efforts. The Braves then captured the Regional crown with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-20 triumph over North Montgomery on Tuesday night. The Braves will participate in semi-state action on Saturday in Jasper, as the Braves will take on Batesville at 11 a.m. The semi-state championship will be held at 7 p.m. against the winner of Evansville Memorial and Silver Creek.

Football

The Braves’ football team fell to Western Boone 17-14 in the first round of sectionals on Friday, ending the team’s season.

Crew

The Crew Team has been busy last 2 weekends with the Speakmon in Columbus Ohio and the Hamilton Fall Classic, outside of Cincinnati. In the Speakmon, a Regatta with 56 competing teams and 506 boats, the highest placing Varsity boats were the Mens 8+ and the Womens 8+. Both teams took 11th place in a large field of competitive boats. The Hamilton Regatta was a much smaller venue with some of the fastest crews in the region. Highlights include a 1st an 2nd by Varsity Womens 8+ a and b and a 3rd by the Varsity Mens 4+. The Varsity Mens 2X took 1st. This weekend is the last Regatta of the fall season and it is at home at Eagle Creek. The Head of the Eagle is a 5K race starting at Rick's Boatyard and ending at the Marina in Eagle Creek Park. Best views can be had on the 56th Street bridge, the Eagle Creek Beach, Boathouse and Marina. The racing starts at 10AM and should last all afternoon. We are expecting 33 teams and 330+ boats. More than 15 collegiate programs are expected to race along with many strong junior programs. Come cheer on our Brebeuf rowers in the final fall race.
