Brebeuf Jesuit/The Oaks Academy Partnership
Developed through a Brebeuf Jesuit grant from the Lilly Endowment, the Brebeuf Jesuit/The Oaks Academy Partnership is one of the many ways in which Brebeuf Jesuit students and faculty reach out to the community in a mutually supportive environment. At The Oaks Academy, a pre-K – 8 private school in downtown Indianapolis, Brebeuf Jesuit students and faculty members provide tutoring services, assist with co-curricular activities—such as chess, speech and music—and help with the general upkeep of the school. In turn, Brebeuf Jesuit students and faculty are welcomed into the lives of younger students and gain important teaching and community experience. Brebeuf has even benefited from periodic visits from The Oaks Academy Choir for joint performances at special convocations.
Some Oaks Academy students, as a result a positive experience through this partnership, are now students at Brebeuf Jesuit.
Diversity Dialogues
The Diversity Dialogues are quarterly moderated discussions on topics that connect to diversity and its impact on the life of the school, the city, the nation, and beyond. At these events, Brebeuf Jesuit students can explore various issues and share their opinions with their peers in a respectful, educational environment. Diversity of thought is welcomed, encouraged, and affirmed in these dialogues.
Festivals and Convocations
Brebeuf Jesuit students open their minds and hearts to the diversity within our society and around the world at annual school-wide events, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Convocation, the Celebration of Black Culture, the Asian Festival, a Model Seder, Hispanic Festival, and Irish Festival.
