Occasions of Prayer
Daily Catholic Mass is offered each school day at 7:45 am in the chapel.
Mass is also offered during the school day on Holy Days of Obligation and on Ash Wednesday.
The Chapel is available throughout the day for anyone who wishes to pray.
Other prayer services may be offered in response to world events or days of prayer for specific needs.
September 7 - Interfaith Prayer Service (West Gym)
This service is held each year during the first week(s) of the school year. The celebration is held in order to ask for God’s blessing upon the school, the faculty and staff, the students, and families. It reflects our Jesuit and Catholic heritages, as a “Mass of the Holy Spirit” is held in other Jesuit institutions each year to ask for the same blessings. This celebration is open to families and is held in the west gym.
October 22 - Feast of St. Jean de Brebeuf (West Gym)
St. Jean de Brebeuf was a French Jesuit missionary who was killed for his work among the Huron people in North America. We celebrate his feast day each year with an all-school prayer service. We remember the man who gave his life for his beliefs and eventually gave his name to our school. Themes vary each year and have included: Service, Native American heritage, Living Out Your Faith, etc.
November 2 - All Souls Mass of Remembrance (Chapel)
Calling upon our Catholic tradition, we memorialize those who have gone before us throughout the month of November. Each year, a Mass is held at which we remind ourselves of those who have gone before us in the halls of Brebeuf—deceased alumni, deceased faculty and staff, and deceased Jesuits who have served the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School community are remembered. In addition to the Memorial Mass, a Book of the Dead holding the names of the deceased of the Brebeuf family is on display in the Chapel throughout the month of November, as well as cards received asking for prayers for the deceased.

- Baccalaureate Mass (West Gym)
The tradition of a Baccalaureate Mass is part of our Jesuit-Catholic heritage and dates back over 450 years. We are motivated by faith in God and the desire for the sharing of religious experiences by people of diverse faiths. We gather to celebrate God in our lives and to offer thanksgiving for the education received at Brebeuf Jesuit. As a lasting symbol of the Brebeuf Jesuit graduates’ commitment to being men and women in service to others, we present the Brebeuf Medal to each member of the graduating class during the Mass. This medal is worn during Graduation.
