For each AP course, an AP Exam is administered at participating schools worldwide. Except for AP Studio Art -- which is a portfolio assessment -- each AP Exam contains a free-response section (either essay or problem-solving) and a section of multiple-choice questions. The modern language exams also have a speaking component. Each AP Exam is given an overall grade of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, with 5 indicating a student who is extremely well qualified to receive college credit and/or advanced placement based on an AP Exam grade.

Students will register for AP exams via Naviance by March 24th. Students will have the opportunity to withdraw or amend any registration until March 31st for a full refund. After March 31st, no refunds will be issued. Please see your college counselor if the exam fees pose a hardship. A fee reduction may be arranged. The following tests will be paid for by the State of Indiana, provided that the student is currently enrolled in that particular AP course, or has completed the course prior to the exam:
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Calculus
Statistics
Students will be required to attend a pre-administration session the week before AP testing begins. These sessions are held over a three-day period during PRTs. Students must choose only one session to attend. On the day of AP testing, students will report to their testing rooms by 7:30 a.m. for morning exams and 11:30 a.m. for afternoon exams. Doors will be shut at this time and students arriving late will not be able to test. If a student has two exams scheduled for the same day, they should plan on bringing a snack, as they may not have time to visit the cafeteria between examinations.
