WORLD LANGUAGE

The Brebeuf Jesuit World Language Department provides students with an opportunity to learn about other cultures and peoples as well as the languages that they speak. Emphasis is given to the development of all skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Language clubs are active inside and outside the school.

World Language students may choose to enrich their language learning experience through study abroad. Each year a number of Brebeuf Jesuit students participate in the IU Honors Program, spending the summer in Germany, France, Spain, or Mexico. Teachers may also lead student groups on summer trips.

All teachers in the World Language Department have received language degrees with foreign experience and/or are native speakers. Likewise, our students have received numerous awards and many achieve advanced placement at the university level.

In addition to the language classrooms, the World Language Department includes a global learning lab, which is equipped with computers and interactive listening and speaking stations.  Each language class has access to the lab on a regular basis.
