Step 1: The Entrance Exam
The entrance exam – the STS High School Placement Test – is the first step in the admissions process and a prerequisite for admission to Brebeuf Jesuit. Qualified eighth graders generally achieve a composite score at or above the 60th percentile.
There is no fee for the entrance exam and all necessary testing materials are provided. Testing runs from 9:00 am - 12:15 pm. Students should arrive no later than 8:45 am. Students may bring money for a snack during the break. Calculators are not permitted. Students who qualify for additional time must submit the proper documentation to the Admissions Office prior to the exam. Students will be notified of their score approximately two weeks after the date of the exam.
Step 2: The Admissions Application
Qualified students will receive a Brebeuf Jesuit application packet in late November. Applications must be completed and returned to the Admissions Office along with a $60 non-refundable application fee, transcripts from 7th grade and the first quarter/semester of 8th grade along with standardized test scores from the sending school. Students are also asked to submit one Teacher and one Guidance Counselor/Principal recommendation form. These forms are mailed directly from the recommendation writer to BJPS.
Step 3: Registration and Enrollment
Students receiving an offer of admission must submit a completed registration form, tuition agreement contract and non-refundable registration fee to the Admissions Office to complete the admissions process. The non-refundable registration fee is applied to the tuition balance and secures the student’s place in the freshman class.
To enroll a student, Brebeuf Jesuit needs copies of the student’s immunization records, final 8th grade report card, and ISTEP or other standardized test scores (ERB, CTBS, etc.).
The Brave Days (shadow visit)
Program
Although not a formal requirement of the application process, a full-day shadow visit is strongly encouraged for all prospective students during their 8th grade year. A prospective student on a shadow visit will spend time with a current freshman, meet faculty and staff members, and experience a typical day at Brebeuf Jesuit. Acquiring firsthand knowledge of what it’s like to be a student at Brebeuf Jesuit, getting a feel for the academic environment, and learning about the school’s student resources and co-curricular activities will set Brebeuf Jesuit apart from other high schools you may be considering. Students may schedule a shadow visit on pre-assigned dates starting in September and concluding in February.
