As we began the 2007-08 school year, the Brebeuf Jesuit Trustees had an opening school year retreat on August 18. The purpose of the retreat was to build a sense of community among trustees and to focus upon our care of the mission of Brebeuf Jesuit. We used a process (called “a force field analysis”) similar to one done by Brebeuf Jesuit faculty/staff at its opening meeting on August 9. We brainstormed positive forces that assist in accomplishing the mission of Brebeuf, as well as negative forces working against the accomplishment of this mission. We then articulated some actions that the Trustees could take to align with the positive forces and address negative forces.
During the upcoming year the trustees will refresh and revise the strategic plan for Brebeuf Jesuit, using our reflections from August 18 as well as the feedback from the ISACS visiting team (October, 2007) and the Jesuit Chicago Province President, Principal, Rector Review (March 2008). We also will be soliciting input from faculty/staff and Brebeuf Jesuit families.
