Financial Aid FAQs
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School
Financial Aid for Incoming Freshmen

WHAT:
Brebeuf Jesuit is committed to educating students based on their ability to learn rather than their ability to pay.  To accomplish this goal, $1.5 million of aid is awarded to students & families on a financial needs basis.  These awards are not based on academic merit or diversity - the only factor considered is demonstrated financial need.

Freshman financial aid awards include a work study component of $1,000.  The student is required to work 120 hours to earn this $1,000.  There are two 3-week work sessions offered in the summer as well as limited work sessions available during the school year.

WHO:
Awards are deterined on an individual case basis by the Financial Aid Committee.  This committee is made up of five members of Brebeuf Jesuit administration and is headed by the Chief Financial Officer.  There are no outside members from the community or Board of Trustees.  All information is kept confidential.

WHEN:
January 11, 2010 is the postmark deadline for financial aid application materials to be mailed to PSAS (Private School Aid Service).  Applicants who meet this deadline will be informed of their financial aid award when they receive their acceptance letter (mid-February).  Applicants whose information is mailed after January 11, 2010 will be notified of financial aid awards at the end of April 2010.

WHERE:
The financial aid award is applied to your tuition account when the acknowledgement form is signed by the student and parent and returned to the Business Office.  The work study award is applied when 120 hours have been completed.

HOW (for Freshmen Only):
A financial aid application is available on the Brebeuf Jesuit website along with the admissions application form.  To apply for financial aid, print off the application and mail the completed and signed application, $21 fee and supporting documents to: Private School Aid Service, P.O. Box 770728, Lakewood, OH 44107-0034 prior to January 11, 2010.  The required supporting documents are listed in the application form and are primarily a copy of your 2008 tax return and W-2's.  PSAS is an independent outside service used by Brebeuf Jesuit for needs analysis.  The deanery high schools in Indianapolis use PSAS but other Indianapolis private schools may use a different analysis company.  PSAS will send a report to Brebeuf Jesuit with a recommended grant.  The Financial Aid committee considers this recommendation along with any other unusual family circumstances when determining awards.

REMEMBER:
All financial aid information is treated confidentially and we request that families do not discuss their awards with others. This could results in a loss of award.
