How to Apply – Freshman Admission
Take the High School Placement Test
All students applying for freshman admission at Brebeuf Jesuit are required to take the High School Placement Test (8th grade students only). During the 2009-10 school year, the test will be offered on the following dates:
High School Placement Test Dates for the Class of 2014
· Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 – 9 am
· Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 – 9 am
· Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 – 9 am
Students should plan to take the test on one of the three dates and should plan to arrive by 8:45 am. Tests will conclude by 12:15 p.m. There is no fee to take the test, and parents must pre-register their 8th grader by visiting www.brebeuf.org.
Submit an Application
Families of 8th grade students who achieve a composite score at or above the 60th percentile may download the Application for Freshman Admission. The deadline to submit the Application for Freshman Admission is Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee.
Two Teacher Recommendation Forms must be completed and submitted by Jan. 15, 2010. Form #1 must be completed by either an English or Social Studies teacher. Form #2 must be completed by either a Math or Science teacher.
The recommendation forms must be submitted by school personnel directly to the Brebeuf Jesuit Admissions Office by email admissions@brebeuf.org or by mail to Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, Attn: Admissions, 2801 West 86h Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268. The Admissions Office must receive the Teacher Recommendation forms no later than Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.
In addition to the Brebeuf Jesuit Application for Freshman Admission, the student and family must submit the following materials:
· A copy of 6th and 7th grade report cards and most up-to-date 8th grade report card
· 8th grade ISTEP+ scores (If the school does not offer the ISTEP+, we strongly suggest that you submit a copy of the most recent comparable test results such as Iowa, CTBS, ERB, etc.)
· Additional educational evaluations and/or medical information, if applicable
Receive Admissions Decision
We anticipate mailing decision letters on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010.
Enroll
In order to finalize enrollment, families must submit an official registration form along with an enrollment contract and $800 deposit by Friday, March 5, 2010.
Plan Your Classes
Students who enroll by March 5 will be invited to attend Counselor Meetings in mid-March to meet with an Academic Counselor and plan classes for their freshman year.
Take Placement Tests
Students interested in pursuing honors courses in Math, English, World Language (Spanish, French or Latin) and/or World Civilizations (History) during their freshman year will need to sit for placement tests at the end of April. Information regarding these placement tests will be included in the Acceptance Packet.
