Diversity at Brebeuf Jesuit

Brebeuf Jesuit seeks to produce graduates who are intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving and committed to doing justice. In pursuit of this goal, a diverse student body becomes part of the educational experience, better preparing students to work in an increasingly multi-cultural world, one in which local, national and international tensions are often grounded in cultural, religious or linguistic differences.

As such, Brebeuf Jesuit's diversity initiatives and programs enhance the life of the school, contributing to an environment that reflects and nurtures the above characteristics in its total life. The motivation to reach out to people of every part of the world is fundamental to the Society of Jesus. As a Jesuit secondary school, Brebeuf Jesuit continues this tradition.

Faculty, staff, administrators, students and parents are supported in their diversity initiatives by the Assistant Principal for Diversity and Inclusion, Freezell Brown. Mr. Brown serves as the primary facilitator of the effort to expand the role of diversity at Brebeuf Jesuit. Mr. Brown also coordinates outreach programs with area schools and groups.

Diversity Dialogues

The Diversity Dialogues are quarterly moderated discussions on topics that connect to diversity and its impact on the life of the school, the city, the nation and beyond. At these events, Brebeuf Jesuit students can explore a wide range of issues and share their opinions with their peers in a respectful, educational environment. Diversity of thought is welcomed, encouraged and affirmed in these dialogues.

Annual Festivals and Convocations

Brebeuf Jesuit students open their minds and hearts to the diversity within our society and around the world at annual events, including the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation, the Celebration of Black Culture and the Asian Festival.
